Most previously created print outs and forms will NOT print from Windows for PFM. TO print most previous documents you will need to keep a copy of the DOS version of PFM on your system. NOTE2: There is a known problem with printing reports to redirected printer ports through software. We are woking on the issue. _________________ 1. Installation 1.1 Precondition To install this version you need the following installation packages: setup.exe for all Windows versions You can download the setup.exe from Software Creations. To start the installation just double click on the setup.exe icon. Laser applications installation is also needed if you wish to printout any of the finance contracts, policies or payment receipts. You can download the Windows for PFM laser apps after installing winpfmfl, from Software Creations at http://www.swcconsulting.com/PFMdownload.htm (case matters on this web site) Any other udates that are dated later than the the current system date. 1.2 Procedure The installation is started by executing setup.exe Let the installation default on all the options. It will create all the required directories, copy all the databases needed for the program, and copy the installation executeables into the needed directories. To install the laser applications download the laser apps file into the newly created winpfmfl folder. You can double click on the winpfmfl icon. The login name is "SUPERVISOR" Pasword is "SQUIRREL" click on utilities scroll down to "PFM SYSTEM UPDATE" follow the directions on the screen. When you reach the screen "UPDATE PFM SETUP". Make sure the "on-line update" is set to uppercase "N" The system will automatically install all the laser files in the winpfmfl/apps folder. To enter all your comapny information go down to UTILITIES then PFM GENERAL SETUP. Enter the information for each line. Usually a "Y" or "N",and your business adress when asked. Then go to UTILITIES and PFM PRINTER SETUP. The printer port your server points to (usually "lpt1" or "lpt2") should be entered in the port name. The printer type (assumming a laser) should be hp4 and is entered next to "lpt1" it should read like this lpt1 hp4. The receipt code should be "~pay" and the PCL FORMFEED should be set to "Y". All other prompts use the defaults. The UTILITIES MULTI-LOC is used for companies with more than one office. To setup each companies print file go to UTILITIES then COMPANY SETUP. Fill in each question, when you reach PRINT CODE the name that goes in there must match the print code of the company found on our website. Goto www.swcconsulting.com on the bottom left select PFM UPDATES then select print codes. The print code begins with a "~". Enter that name in the print code box for the company. Continue to do this for each comapny that you wish to setup. It would be easier to print out the list first then set up the companies. 1.3 Installation comments It is important to REBOOT your computer after having completed the installtion of Winpfmfl successfully. Only then will the changes in your ENVIRONMENT take effect. On Software Creations web page for PFM there is a link to a page listing each application available. Under the utilities page select "company setup" Then "add new company" Each company you may want to use needs to be added here. Most of the fields are self explainatory. The "printing code" field is where the name found on link listing each application available. If you are upgrading from the DOS version you will nedd to go into each company setup and change the name to the valid name for the windows version. Note: All valid names start with the "~" symbol. Please note that following directories and files have been created by the setup program: winpfmfl\*.dbf All the files with the extension DBF are the databases used by this program winpfmfl\*.cdx All the files with the extension cdx are the databases indexes used by this program winpfmfl\winpfmfl.exe This is the executable program. winpfmfl\apps\*.exe These are the executable programs to print all the contracts and applications and any other printouts winpfmfl\inactive Contains all the inactive clients (over 18 months) winpfmfl\archive Contains all the archived clients (over 5 years) 1.4 Installation problems For any installation probelms contact Software Creations at (301) 483-0710. 1.5 Demo restrictions Please bear in mind that the resulting client files created with this 90 day trial edition of Windows for PFMFL will stop working after 90 days. So try to contact Software Creations before the end of the trial peiod for a complete version. To activate the demo version you MUST contact Software Creations at (301) 483-0710 for an activation code. There is no cost for this code. 1.7 Uninstall comments The uninstall program will remove all the files and directories created by going to the control panel (add/remove) and select winpfmfl to be removed. ________________________________________ 2.
